You Don’t Get To Be Yourself When You Worry About What Other People Think
You don’t get to be yourself when you worry about what other people think of you.
It’s like editing yourself and adding a filter to everything you say and do to make you more likable, agreeable, pleasant, and loveable.
The problem is that some filters leave you unrecognizable…
You don’t say what you think.
You don’t voice your thoughts and opinion.
You do things that you rather not do.
You follow the rules that you disagree with.
You don’t anchor in your own values.
What happens next is you feel empty. You don’t know who you are anymore.
If I ask you what kind of life you want for yourself, you don’t know.
What is fun? You don’t know.
What are your goals? You don’t know.
And that is true. You don’t. Because you stopped listening to yourself. You lost contact with that person inside you. She feels so disconnected and misunderstood.
If you want to love that girl and support her dreams and goals, stand strong in her values and be in control of your life, listen to her.
Pay attention to her. Ask what she needs and how you can better support her.
She wants you on her side.
